Kielder Forest Northumberland – Spotting stars in the clear winter skies is a fantastic experience, so head into the Kielder Forest at night for the best views. This is said to be the darkest area in the UK so you will get a good view of the night sky on a cloudless night. There are also lots of fantastic walking trails to take by the day – you may even spot one of the native red squirrels!
